The Signal leaves popular messaging app WhatsApp behind| becomes India’s top free app|


Until WhatsApp declared their new policy there used to be a bunch of users in India using the new messaging app Signal. But with the introduction of WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, the Signal messaging app is being the first choice of downloaded. Because of the situation, the Signal app has become the top free app by overtaking WhatsApp also on the Apple App Store. The Signal app has achieved top positions in India, Germany, France, Austria, Finland, Hong Kong, and Switzerland, surpassing WhatsApp. Apart from this, Signal has also become the top free app in Google Play Store in Hungary and Germany. At o times, the OTP verification of the Signal app was delayed because of the huge increasing crowd in-app downloading. In the past two days, the Signal app has been downloaded by more than 100,000 people across Android and iOS devices, reports Sensor Tower data reported in the news agency Reuters. Also, since the start of 2021, new installations of WhatsApp have fallen by 11 percent.

What is different from WhatsApp

The Signal app allows its users to send messages, make audio and video calls, share photos, videos, and links. The app also claims that user data is rarely used on their behalf. It also does not send unsecured backups of users to the cloud and it keeps the encrypted database secure in your phone. Also, the security of the app has been given an option to decide on its own. Signal has also brought the option of group video calling since December 2020.

Signal popularity increased by Elon Musk’s tweet

A twit by Tesla company CEO Alan Musk actually boosted the Signal app’s popularity across the world. Musk tweeted that he has started using the Signal app. Since then, the download of the Signal app suddenly increased. He wrote on Twitter that ‘Use signal. Musk’s tweet was also retweeted by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

WhatsApp’s new policy

WhatsApp has brought a new privacy policy for users, which all WhatsApp users will need to accept. If not, WhatsApp will close your account after 8 February. Actually, WhatsApp’s new privacy policy will give the company the legal right to use users’ data.
